ABOUT THE COACHES: Emily Kwok is a multiple time IBJJF World Champion, MMA Veteran, co-owner and co-head instructor of  Princeton Braziiian Jiu Jitsu, co-founder of Groundswell Grappling Concepts, featured instructor on the classic, “How to Defeat the Bigger, Stronger Opponent” series with Stephan Kesting, peak performance consultant and freelance writer.  She is widely regarded as an early pioneer of the BJJ scene in North America, being one of the first females to rise to prominence as the sport expanded around the world. Training and competing since 2000 in BJJ, Emily has won numerous BJJ titles throughout Canada, Japan and the United States. She is also an early veteran of women’s MMA, having fought amateur and pro in the legendary all female promotion, SMACKGIRL. Emily has extensive experience directing small to large martial arts schools in addition to strategizing and organizing seminars and camps throughout the USA. She also previously worked in sales and support for GracieMag and was a Project Manager for MGinAction. Currently, Emily works closely with Peak Performance consulting. Additionally, she is an independent coach and consultant, co-owner, teacher and mentor at Princeton BJJ, tours the world conducting seminars and has increasingly been devoting more time to creative writing. Dominyka Obelenyte was born in Kaunas, Lithuania.  When Dom was 6 her family moved to the United States and she started training Jiu-Jitsu at 9 years old.  After receiving her orange belt she trained under legendary jiu-jitsu pioneer and World Champion Emily Kwok who then took her to the Marcelo Garcia Academy in New York.

Dom began competing under Marcelo Garcia; as a blue belt Dom became a World Champion for the first time competing in the adult division at the age of 14. As a purple belt she won the absolute division at age 15 followed by two brown belt World Championship titles at ages 17 and 18. She was the first woman to receive her black belt under Garcia on 15 January 2015 at the age of 19.  As a black belt she won double gold in her weight and in the open class division at the 2015 IBJJF World Championship, the first rookie black belt and the first European to win double gold at Worlds.  She repeated her double gold performance at IBJJF Worlds in 2016.

Dom now travels the world teaching jiu jitsu and creating beautiful murals at gyms and small businesses.

Hillary VanOrnum grew up riding horses and was a competitive equestrian, competing in hunters and jumpers.  In high school, she began playing basketball and played in college after earning a walk-on spot at Texas Christian University on the women’s basketball team her freshman year.  Hillary also played on the TCU women’s lacrosse team. Hillary started training BJJ, Judo, and MMA in 2005.  She began competing in Jiu Jitsu in 2011 and found that she had to travel to the big international tournaments (mainly IBJJF Worlds, IBJJF Pan Ams) to find other women in her division to compete against.  In 2015 Hillary won Adult and Masters World Championships at brown belt.  She has gone on to win gold at Pan Ams at black belt in the Masters 1 division and has won several silver medals at Masters Worlds at black belt.  She competed and medaled at Pan Ams and IBJJF Worlds through her early 40’s, often being the oldest female adult black belt competing.  Now she competes when her body allows her to in the masters divisions.  In 2019 Hillary and her husband and brother opened Unicorn Jiu Jitsu where she is the head coach.
